Could someone please help me with what these two plants are growing between my fuscia and rose.

    They could be Sweet William.

    They look more like penstemon to me.
    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    I thought penstemon too. Odd that there aren't any flowers at this time of year though, unless they're very young plants or were cut down late.
    Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

    The 2nd photo looks like Aster (Michaelmas daisy) to me as well (before the flowers start to form).
