Persicaria Red Dragon - a bit leggy

I am growing pericaria for the first time. This plant is in a north facing garden and gets about 3 hours of sun a day. The plant is growing well but I was hoping it would form an upright clump. Is the issue caused by lack of sun or can some pruning fix this?

I find it often needs staking.

I cut some leggy bits off mine about 3 weeks ago. They are now getting more bushy.

I've put the cuttings in a jar of water ... some roots already.
A friend wants a plant so I'll pot up and over-winter and then pass on in Spring.

I responds well to a good chop and regrows very quickly

That's just what it does. I just chop off the more unruly bits and stake it if I think it needs it, but generally I quite like how it sprawls and wanders through other plants.
