What is wrong with my grass?

    I think you’ll have to show a bit more than a long distance photo,  a close up of the yellow patches would be good. 
    Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

    One neighbour looking at it would be worth a thousand pictures.
     location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.

    Poor prep, poor soil and possible problems below ground/turf level [ie drainage issues] are the most common reasons for grass to fail or not thrive well @comoeesta_01, so if you can give us more info on all of that, it will help too  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Drainage I would say. I have one corner of my garden that doesn't drain very well and it always ends up like that in winter. Yellowy and bare patches. 

    Is it a new build? Do you know what's under the grass?
  • I'm assuming the lawn is wet. When it rains and it doesn't drain very well? It looks like pythium.

    Maybe turfed with a mixed sward(species). Some grass like the site better than others. 

    Supply more info 

    is it a new build/ newly turfed what have you done to site. ?
    I never knew retirement would be so busy. :smile:

    Hi, yes clay soil under, I tried to get rid of it as much as I could, but it also have big stones. Fairygirl said:
