Could one of you clever folks identify this

He/she was in the conservatory yesterday,is it a cricket? It was black,2 inches long,a white C shaped marking each side of the head,no wings. It didn't"jump", but was a pretty fast runner, when I tried to take a picture

    Grasshopper or cricket. I never know the difference. I've only ever seen one, and it was very green  :)
    @wild edges will know.
    Someone else posted a similar pic yesterday or the day before.

    Morning fairly,my daughter would have liked it for her dragon,he has live food 🤢, but I didn't want to make him I'll. I've only ever seen bright green hopping, grasshoppers to, about a quarter the size of this one. Wonder where the other post was!
