Very kind of you @arossrob and @Lizzie27 - in every way. Thank you  :)
I originally had a small pond in front of the screen - you can see the beginnings of it in the first pic. There was a small tree trunk to the right side of that, so I was just working round that. I got fed up with the grass [done in 2014] a few years ago, and decided to make a bigger pond. I'd started it when the pandemic came in, so it was a good project!
There was nothing in the site really when I moved in about 10 years ago. Just a fenced off area [the screen is roughly where that ended] with red chuckies and those big concrete slabs, and grass on the outside of that. I put a new boundary fence in and made the whole garden bigger, and enclosed.
The screen helped with privacy from the road, and from nosy neds climbing on the postman's box, and a cable box, to stare in. I was getting an extension built, so some of the garden wasn't done until after that was finished in 2016.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

It looks like the shrubs behind the arbour gate have grown enough to screen neighbours. The wider opening is lovely, allowing you to see the plants that were behind the screen.

Thank you @HeyHo! - very kind of you. I get bored very easily, so I just change stuff around when I'm in the mood.
Re doing a simple pergola - the easiest way is to make it with as little cutting as possible, so use the sizes that the timber comes in whenever possible. It comes in various lengths, but it's harder to get neat cuts if you only have a basic saw, or jigsaw, rather than one of those fancy circular saws joiners have.

I've just done some concrete mushrooms/toadstools. It was because I had to take out a couple of fence posts and the concrete would have been difficult to get rid of. I was changing part of a border around, so I decided that would be a nice addition, with some plants around it. I'm going to do a couple of small ones for the end of the pond, which is now larger, and at the opposite side of the garden from the screen.

Keeps me off the streets  ;)
