Small tree?.. maybe

Hi all I’m in a quandary, I have a bit of garden 2m by 1 that is south west facing quite windy in Scotland ( central) and would like to plant some sort of tree but not too high, 6foot max ish. It’s on a boundary of house. Would like possible ever green just for privacy from neighbours as we have very small fence separating us, but a wee flower on it would be nice. I’m just going round in circles as what would be the best thing to do. Need some advice  ☺️ ( no Kilmarnock willows or acers☺️)

I think a lot of Scotland has acid soil,  is yours?  If so a Camellia  would be nice,  you can prune them as much as necessary.  Nice flowers too.
I’m sure @fairygirl will come to the rescue.🙂

Yes - a Camellia, Pieris or Rhodo would be fine @Eileenm2009 . Neutral to acidic is the usual pH here. Camellias and Rhodos need a bit of protection from early morning sun so that new flowers/buds don't get damaged, so that aspect is ideal. Pieris are fine pretty much anywhere here.
Some get much bigger than others so it's a question of checking sizes etc, but they can all be pruned if necessary. If you have a car, take a drive down to McLarens Nursery at Uplawmoor. They'll have plenty of all of them, and much cheaper than a garden centre.

They often have a sale during September too. Canny Scots eh?   ;)

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Hey! Privacy with a touch of flower sounds cool. How about a compact evergreen like a Dwarf Korean Lilac? It won't get too tall and has lovely fragrant blooms. Or maybe a Dwarf Hinoki Cypress – it's neat and tidy with a unique look. Check if they'd thrive in your zone. Happy planting! 🌳🌸

That lilac wouldn't be happy here [wrong soil]  and it isn't evergreen, so I don't know where you're getting your information.
It's a good idea to check what the OP is looking for, and where they live, before making suggestions @randybowman811. I'm guessing by your sudden flurry of posts, and the terminology, that you don't live here... :)
