Identification of a dahlia please

I have been trying to identify the dahlia shown below. The original tuber came from a supermarket mixed bag some 20 years ago. The flowers are around 6 to 7 inches across and form a full ball when fully opened. It also grows extremely tall, the highest was over 9 feet one year. So far nobody has managed to identify it.

Have you tried contacting the National Dahlia Society?

I suppose you have ruled out Kelvin Floodlight for height?
The Natiobal Dahlia Society have a very good and active Facebook page and are great at ID

I wouldn't be necessarily searching for extremely tall dahlia types. It's likely that it has become so tall because of the specific conditions in that spot - perhaps it is reaching for light.

  • Last year it went into a sunny spot in a different boarder and still went 6 foot plus.

I'll try the National Dahlia society and see what they can make of it. Thanks
