Don't eat it though, @johncleme65... it might be edible, but if it isn't, you'll wish you hadn't.   :#
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Best comment I heard from a country house foraging chef on TV was - I go out picking various assortments of fungi to cook for my guests but first I cook a sample of each one for supper and if I am alive in the morning then they are OK.

I was just reading a short article about 3 people in Australia dying [plus one severely ill] after eating mushrooms at a dinner party. They don't know if it was deliberate by the host, or an accident....
Always pays to be very, very careful. Everything is edible, but some are only edible once  ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

OED:  toadstool |ˈtəʊdstuːl| noun the spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus, typically in the form of a rounded cap on a stalk, especially one that is believed to be inedible or poisonous. See also mushroom.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.

Better for the guests than for the chef.

Do French pharmacies still offer a spore identification service?
