If the OP hasn't been totally scared off, I would have suggested Agapanthus 'Navy Blue' or similar; I'm shocked at how tolerant of neglect mine have been, in a hot dry south-east facing spot.

The problem is - we've no idea what size the pot is, despite us asking. It could be 6 inches wide...or it could be 2 feet.  :)
I think the OP has already decided growing anything isn't going to happen though.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

if you if you are still reading this & still keen I have to grow things in pots as I don’t have much border space, I have a little box bush (Buxus) that is cone shaped it’s in a fairly big terracotta pot and I’ve never changed the compost. It’s green all year round and i put fairy lights on it at Christmas ! I do make sure I water it if it’s not rained for a week or if very hot I’ll water it daily. It’s quite shady with a tree nearby though. You can often get them in Lidl or Aldi quite cheaply. The pot is prob the size that would take half a bag of compost. So about 25-30L ? Ish
hope that helps give you another idea. It’s nice to look after a plant especially if there’s not much greenery nearby & you can just keep an eye on it each time you go in & out.
It doesn’t need to be complicated 😁

    1. Try a pots of various bulbs, you can layer different bulbs at different depths with the largest at the bottom.
    2.  Psalm 139 suggestion is good. Plus other herbs you like.
    3. You can order everything over the internet so no worries about collecting items like flowerpots.
    4. You could also grow a chilli plant on your window ledge or something similar.
    5. Not sure where these numbers came from. Can anyone help.

    7. Wee odd threads like this are brilliant for ideas. Thank you everybody.
I'm having 'deadish' issues with my Skyrockets and may well move/replace them. Lots of great ideas here.
