New Lawn Issues

Hi
recently moved into a new house. Been here a month and the new turfed lawn has been done about 2-3 months. Looked really green and thick when we arrived and I’ve been cutting on the highest setting weekly but have noticed that despite a lot of watering by us for the first few weeks and all the rain in July it’s starting to go a bit yellow and seems to be thin and a bit straw like in places.

Looking for some advice to keep it healthy as I’m useless with lawns normally and so want to get this one right.

Do I need to water more ? Aerate ? Fertilise the lawn ? Any help you can offer would be appreciated. I’ve added some pictures to show the lawn as it it today.

What do you want it to look like?

Looks almost perfect to me. I give  mine an autumn feed with a slow release lawn fertiliser (food only).  I do moss killing and weed killing, if needed, as separate operations.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.

It's still getting established. It needs to get its roots down so don't worry about it just yet.
  • It looks pretty good from the pic tbf. The yellow means it could need a little bit of Nitrogen added to the soil - but not too much at this time of year. An application of autumn lawn feed would help to green it up.
  • I would be doing cartwheels for a lawn like that.
Mine is just a weed haven.
Grass will yellow quickly and green quickly. I would not worry too much.
