Plum tree

My Victoria plum tree , approx 10 years old has started to produce small red plums on one side as well as Victoria plums on the other half. Does anyone know why this is happening ??

Hello @joysmith2kukowLV0eMI and welcome to the forum 😊

I suspect that the side with the small red plums comes from a shoot originating from the rootstock below the graft. If you show us a clear photo of the tree including the trunk down
to the ground will should be able to confirm that for you, or not, as the case may be.  😊

  • Thanks for your prompt reply. That was what we thought might be happening. They all taste good so not really a concern. Happy gardening

    Well that’s certainly a silver lining 😊
Just be aware that the side from the rootstock is likely to be more vigorous and may need controlling to prevent it swamping the Victoria.
