Is there any hope for these celeriac?

I set the seeds on May 10th. They popped up a week later and have hardly moved since. They've been inside on the windowsill the whole time. It's been hot at time, cool at times, I tried watering less, watering more - it looks like there are new leaves coming but it's looked that way for a while. Should I keep faith in them?

Celeriac needs a long growing season, I used to sow mine indoors in late Feb, early March. I'm afraid that yours are too far behind, better luck next year. I don't bother anymore as they're readily available and cheap, plus on heavy clay mine were slug magnets.

Ah OK.  I'll give up on it this year and get that piece of windowsill back

This is what my celeriac looked like last year (9th August 2022), 9x3 planting with 10 spares set aside when they were first transplanted.

We had a heatwave last year so it was a bit of a challenge but I did get a good crop, well, two: the stalks and leaves were picked throughout its growing period, and the root when they were lifted in February and March.

OP, just plant out your seedlings and let them get on with it - there is still enough time for them to grow just enough to survive winter.

Plant them slightly deeper than you have them in the pots.

Thanks @pinut I'll give it a go. Better than popping them into the compost after nursing them for so long. Your plants look great!
