Plant ID for my Dad

Something has been growing in my dad's garden and he was hoping as it progressed, he'd be able to identify it but it's got quite far along now and he's still drawing blanks. I definitely don't have a clue, does this look familiar to anyone?

Does he put out food for the birds? It could have grown from that.

It’s millet . The sort of thing that when it’s ripe and dried my mum used to put in our budgie cage for Joey .
  • Thanks all, will let him know 🙂
