Cross Referencing

A few weeks ago I saw Monty Don demonstrating a method that, to me, needed a more practical solution.  I submitted mine, had a very courteous acknowledgement from his PA, but heard nothing more.  I think I was working on the notion that all GW media, TV/Mag and Forum, would cross reference each other to create something of a 'family' atmosphere.  Am I being naive?

The TV show and the magazine are not related in any way.

I don't know for sure but,  the magazine is published by immediate media,  although they co-operate they are independent of the BBC,  and probably pay for the rights to use the name logo etc.  You could probably do an Internet search that would tell you if you really want to know.

I guess the answer to my question might be 'yes'.

    It’s all here

There is a relationship … but it’s not ‘close’.

Thanks, Dove.  With my background I really should have known that but, in principle, I rather take exception to the magazine's website referral to 'our friendly forum'?

    Why?  I don’t get the problem 😵‍💫
The paper magazine and the website of which this forum is part, are both owned by Immediate Media and both work out of  the same office.

Not really a problem, Dove, which may have been the wrong word to use, but the TV programme has a far wider audience bearing the same brand and, in my innocence, I suppose I hoped to hear 'as one of our Gardeners World Forum members suggested...' to add to our image.  Once a salesman, always a salesman?

I get that , but why “take exception to the magazine’s website referral to ‘our friendly forum’ ?

I think that, with a few notable exceptions 🙄 , it is a very friendly forum.  Before Covid we even used to organise little outings to gardens and other get togethers … I’ve even been an overnight guest several times in the home of someone I met through the forum and have other folk I regard as real friends that I’d never otherwise have met. I’ve also had gifts of lovely homegrown plants arrive in the post totally unexpectedly when I’ve expressed a liking for something. It seems very friendly to me … hence my confusion.

Sorry, Dove.  I really don't want to get in too deeply unintentionally.  To the casual viewer/reader/member the brand of 'Gardeners World' implies a relationship, as indeed the magazine was under its previous BBC ownership, I think?  To ignore the potential such misinterpretation offers can, to a simple man, result in missed opportunities.

Not wanting to get in too deep either … but I’m still puzzled by the relevance of the part of your post I referred to … however I’m sure I’ll cope … 🤪
