Norway Maple Wilting

I planted 2 Norway maples back in December along the same stretch of ground. I have been watering well. One is fine and green the other looks like this. Any ideas what this could be? Is it verticillium wilt? 😢

Assuming it was panted correctly, the most likely reason is a lack of water even though you think you may have given it enough.
The planting area should look something like this with a clear area about 1m across with no grass etc. that allows water to penetrate properly and stops weeds/grass taking nutrients from the soil.

    I'd think VW is unlikely.
Does the tree have any symptoms of VW?
You'd see leaves dying quickly and turning crispy whilst others remain fine.
You'd also see black marks that look like bruises here and there on some branches, again with bunches of dead leaves.
