Salvia nemorosa - should I pinch

gailalicegailalice Posts: 7
Hi All
I’ve been growing some salvia nemorosa from plugs and they’re now quite leggy, my question is do I pinch or leave as they are?
Everything I’ve seen from a google search is a no but I thought I’d check with the experts here so any advice is gratefully appreciated 😊

I don't know for sure but I don't see how it would do any harm.

I always cut mature nemerosas hard back (to about 2") in winter and they always grow up good and strong in spring. In July I cut them back again really hard after the first flush of flowers and get lots of nice stocky fresh regrowth with a second flush of flowers in September.

In other words the mature plants don't mind being cut back hard so I don't see why immature plants would mind being pinched out.

Might be best to wait for another opinion though....
