Is it a Palm or perhaps a Cordyline ? The wet/freezing winter weather the past year has affected many Palms and Cordylines. If the latter, the usual advice would be to cut the main trunk down until you come to some sign of life.  Even if you have to cut down to ground level, they will often start to provide new shoots - but be aware that this will only occur if the root ball is still live. If a "palm", it will depend om which one as to the best approach.
A photo and some indication of your location and aspect may help with both an ID and any advice.
