Creeping Thyme

we have a vegetable/raised bed area currently with lawn between beds which i am currently digging out to lay some paving flags with large spaces between
would anyone have any experience in planting creeping thyme between flags on a lawn?
does the thyme take over?

Non flowering but stays small/flat and he's only up the road! 🤣
I've used a variety called T. russettings in the past, which spreads well and is very low growing. Very nice.
Thyme isn't invasive in any way though.
