Design and Planning question: Trees near raised beds

Hi,

Need some advice please. We have just had an extension and I also have the opportunity to re lay my garden. I have a small problem. From my new upstairs window I can see the roofs of next door flats row of garages (not unpleasant but not great either). I would like to hide this view by planting a couple of medium trees. But this is the same side of the garden where I was planning my raised beds for vegetables. My sense is that the raised beds will still get sunlight, even if I plant trees.

If I go ahead, the trees would be within a few feet of the raised beds. Is this a problem? Are there particular trees that would be better suited to being near the vegetable patch or shall I forget the trees?

Really grateful for your advice.

As well as the potential for shade, the tree roots might eventually find their way up into the raised beds and take all the nutrients. Probably best to organise things so that the trees are to the north of the beds and far enough away that their canopies won't extend as far as the raised beds at their expected mature size. Then the roots probably won't reach the raised beds either.
