    That is worth a try @babydolla47, thankyou☺️
Hahaha @Fairygirl, I quite agree about the electric fence!!! 😁 (Joking of course)...luckily the post will be fine, it is just litter that is posted through the hedge. I say 'just' but of course it is completely unacceptable and I am trying to stop that with spiky plant deterrents etc.😊
Oh that is novel, @Balgay.Hill, I had not thought of paint and wet paint signs, but actually, at certain times of the year that could be a really good deterrent, thankyou! 😉
That is true @Dovefromabove, hopefully most of them are not also exhibitionists! 😁

We find having a crunchy gravel drive means that folk know they can’t wander about our frontage without being noticed.

Oh yes @plantpauper, there was a time when those planes would circle after football matches or other big occasions. What happened to them? Financial cut-backs, maybe? I bet there was dancing under the spotlight.😅... it would go to tik-tok these days!

Thanks @Lyn for your suggestions 🤗, I like your drop bolt idea, a bit like when the castle moat door comes down....I will investigate doing that. I quite agree about post boxes and dog poo etc. I don't need to do that - I think someone must have quickly read about the 'posting of litter through the hedge' and got the wrong idea somewhere along the way! I hope you are not speaking from experience re the dog poo?! 🤭

@Singing Gardener thank you for your post, I will investigate☺️ - automation could be very useful, if reliable.

Hahaha @raisingirl, I hope they find it helps!  That is a great sign, probably covers most situations 😁 It is certainly tempting to do something like that. Humour can sometimes help and make people think twice, as weird as it may seem!

I use a kick bolt on the inside of my back gate so that fannies can't just come in that way whenever they want.
If you look on any site that sells stuff for horses, you'll see them. That could be useful for you. We had them on all the stable doors to avoid the problem of stock opening the normal bolts, which many of them could do.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Thanks @wildviolet :)  xx
I had not thought of that @BenCotto, what a good idea.  🤗. I can see that working, because the night time visitors are mostly drunk and would be fumbling about with something like a carabiner. I will see what the local stores have. I had a look online at the general idea, and somewhere in America suggests doing just this to keep dogs safe:

You can get lockable carabiners which just add a level of security. They just have a thumb screw that winds up over the bit that opens.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Oh yes, @Dovefromabove, crunchy gravel probably would be off-putting. ☺️ Thanks - I will look into that, but as the pavement sits lower than my garden, it might spill out.
Thanks @Fairygirl, I had not seen kick bolts before☺️ - that is a great suggestion. It is really helpful to find out a range of ways to fix this problem!
