Young Lilac sapling

I planted 2 lilac saplings in honour of my dear niece who passed away ages 30. While they look healthy, some leaves are now beginning to brown at edges…what’s the rule about watering these young ones please?

When did you plant them and how was the soil prepped? Normally, they wouldn't need watered once they're well established if the soil and site is right for them, and you don't have very long hot, dry spells. I wouldn't worry too much about the bits of browning - heat/wind can often cause that to young, new foliage.

A pic of the whole plant will help too if you can.  :)

Sorry about your niece - a nice way to remind you of her though  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • thank you Fairy girl - I planted them after the frost season was over (early April I think)?
it has been a very hot summer in UK, & so they do get watered every now and then.

I’ve removed the drying leaves and am attaching pics of the 2 saplings.

    thanks a ton
