    Could I transplant it when the time comes to move and tidy up the bed

    Most certainly a fig leaf. You can transplant the tree but the general advice about figs is to keep their roots under control by growing them in big pots or using rubble or root control bags (essentially textile pots you sink in the ground) if you are growing them in the ground. If all else fails you can take cuttings and they root easily (usually).

    Many thanks for your advice it is up against a deep gravel board and next doors garage wall so we’ll wait and see what happens. Thanks again JaS
