We've all been there @morgana! I've been gardening for over 40 years and still overplant areas.
One top tip is to be really aware of the eventual size and shape of any trees, shrubs and roses you may plant in the future. Being but a weak and feeble woman 😉, I find it nearly impossible to dig those out once they're established. However, most anything else can be cut back, moved, removed etc if a space becomes overcrowded.
