Wasps nest between flu and chimney

I have a log burner with a flue liner inside the chimney.
I have discovered wasps coming out of the edge of the baffle plate into the lounge and clearly have a nest in the chimney between the flue liner and chimney.
I've sealed up the holes around the baffle plate and it's stopped them coming into the lounge.
My question is; should I light a fire in the evening in the hope the heat will make the wasps leave?

If they’re not bothering you now then leave them alone . They’ll go away before you need to use the fire in the Autumn. Wasps are a useful pollinator creature .

You might want to have a chimney sweep check it over before starting to use it again. A wasp nest is essentially a paper construction and you might end up with a chimney fire.
  • Live and let live . I believe they never nest in the same place again .

Most certainly get it checked, they'll have built a lovely firestarter in your chimney.
