Dissapointed in roses

Is it just me or do others think this year hasn't been the best for roses? I've fed them, deadheaded them etc but had more diseases, less flowers & even lost two.

A really bad year for black spot here. I'm pretty sure most of mine could do with a lot more water too.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I think some of mine bloomed a bit more last year.... they loved the heat. Hope we get a little of that continental sizzle here again. But overall, OK. The roses I defoliated for BS in June have regrown healthy new leaves.

The year has been all over the place - the wettest March in 40 years, the driest Feb for 30 years. 30+ degree heat and now nights in the south around 10oC. I am personally hoping we get no further sizzle at all as the trees can't take it.

I don't want any sizzle either. My garden is loving a little bit of much needed rain this weekend and the cooler temps of the last couple of weeks is putting it (and me!) under much less stress.

I think the damp Mar and Apr gave rise to a lot of fruit scab, but the roses are not doing too badly.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
