Butternut squash developing/spreading new plants

Hi all,
Just looking for some advice on some butternut squash we have planted in a raised bed at our allotment. They were grown from seeds in pots and then transplanted in when big enough.
The bed is a new one with a top soil and compost mix straight from B&Q.

The squash seem to be creating new plants which are popping up alongside, which I've not seen before. It's not like vines spreading overground, but actual new plants coming from the main one under the soil.
Photo shows the main one and then the offshoots.
This is happening with all of them in this bed.

Do I just let them be? Or should I be trimming them back?

Any advice welcomed 🙂

Those little plants are seedlings. They remind me of my experience this year:
I sowed squashes too early, too cold, so they didn't come up, I re-used the compost for other things, then had random squashes coming up in various places!

I agree - they are seedlings (you can tell because they are showing their 'seed leaves') and have nothing to do with your squash and have not been produced by your squash.
The seeds were already in the compost and have germinated - just pull them out.
