Good to see that Which? have included artificial lawns in their 'Shoddy' awards:

I really hope plastic grass gets banned. It's hilarious how they sell it as some kind of time saving thing when the manufacturers also admit that you might have to clean it etc and it will get very hot.
Hopefully flights will get banned too, ha! Or at least private jets, I'm sure I read 1 in 10 flights from UK are private jets, which is outrageous.

Couldn't agree more Pansy - the skies over here were quiet during Covid but it's noticeable how many planes are criss crossing the skies again now.
I know people still want to travel but our World Leaders/Politicians and others in the public eye don't set much of an example.  They skitter about everywhere and seem never to be off the damn things.  Mind you, I don't expect many of that lot use Easy Jet -  ;)

The vast majority of holidays are booked months in advance and are non-refundable.  It's not possible to cancel a holiday and get your money back just because of unusually high temperatures.  Another non-story.

There's as much chance that plastic grass gets banned as there is disposable vapes. Too much money is being made, but not by you.

The Guardian suggest people are pulling it out.

People with artificial lawns have also been asking councils to remove overhanging trees and shrubs that deposit leaves, to cut down on all the vacuuming.

One of the horticultural trade publications wanted to interview me for my opinion on artificial grass, needless to say i declined to comment on the basis that my response would be unpublishable.

I hate the thought of using plastic grass instead of real grass but occasionally there is a use for it. There is a horrible area, not that big, but ugly, of concrete in our garden in Norfolk which is where the septic tank is, right in the middle of a lawn. Can't put pots on it as need access for emptying and we are often in France so pot watering is a problem. We covered it with fake grass and now it blends in with the lawn. Only problem was I didn't have quite enough. Needs sweeping in the photo, not an area I usually take photos of.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Our dog loves to roll on the tee off mats at the local pitch and putt which are like thick AstroTurf, so we thought it would be a good idea to just have a 1mx1m square of fake grass, so she could do the same at home (we used to have grass but always had bitches, so brown patches, and just extended the borders to replace most of it and changed it to a slate path). Let's just say the only thing she wanted to do was poo on it, which kinda sums up our feeling on it to. It's long since been removed.

There are two front gardens locally covered in the stuff and they are neighbours that had it done at the same time. Since then no one in the local area have added it to their front gardens at least and I like to think it's because those two gardens put people off.
