I have no idea what this is.  Not the purple flower, the shoots with little spikes. It hasn’t flowered since I’ve been here (which is only 3 weeks).

TIA

Is it a Safflower   I bought some seeds but decided not to sow,  don’t think it’s right for my garden.  Could have come from bird seeds.

Looking that up on Google, I don’t think the foliage looks right.
  • @Lyn You answered my question that I had around 6 weeks ago. Safflower were part of the wildflower mix that I had bought and is now in a little raised bed. Not really much used by any insects from what I observed when sitting in my corner.

They are not yours @a1154 and my approach always has been, what I didn't plant comes out, before roots cause trouble.

    I my garden.

@Simone_in_Wiltshire in one way I agree that if it didn’t plant it it’s an interloper but as the OP has only been in his house for 3 weeks I’d be inclined to leave it and see what it turns into,  May have lovely flowers.

Hmm I don’t think it’s that either, but I’m happy to keep it until identified, probably when it flowers.
