@Lyn You answered my question that I had around 6 weeks ago. Safflower were part of the wildflower mix that I had bought and is now in a little raised bed. Not really much used by any insects from what I observed when sitting in my corner.
They are not yours @a1154 and my approach always has been, what I didn't plant comes out, before roots cause trouble.
@Simone_in_Wiltshire in one way I agree that if it didn’t plant it it’s an interloper but as the OP has only been in his house for 3 weeks I’d be inclined to leave it and see what it turns into, May have lovely flowers.
