Tomato leaves curling

The leaves on my tomatoes, particularly the plum variety, are curling, despite being given an ample water daily. I also check the moisture of the pot with a stick and at most it's about two inches dry.
Am I needing to water the tomatoes twice daily - I live in Cumbria and we have not seen sun for weeks !
Thanks

Leaf curling is often due to a draught or sometimes a sudden change in temperature and not a lack of water.
    Nothing to worry about.
Watering twice daily sounds very excessive, so hold back on that.
Mine get watered twice a week usually

  • @Pete.8 many thanks, I think you've nailed it. The greenhouse has two broken panes, so those gaps seem the issue. Time to repair them.
    Thanks again.

I've never watered mine daily - even in the growhouse, but they're in the ground now rather than in pots, which is easier.
I've still never done it twice a day, even last year when we had a record breaking summer here in terms of heat and dry weather, and irregular watering can cause far more damage than light watering, so it's not a great idea. I'd agree with @Pete.8 that it's more likely to be the draught or sudden change in temp, or a combination.  It won't affect them adversely  though, they'll come away no problem  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Many thanks @Fairygirl.

I have noticed both mine and my neighbours tomatoes are rather late in fruiting this year. I have only just succeeded in producing 3 tiny little fruits so far. I imagine we'll all be making chutney come September!

  • @Johnjoe My "sweet" tomatoes are covered but my plum tomatoes are just taking up space.
