    Thank you, @nutcutlet. I guess @B3 is right, all the interesting seedlings grow between paving stones! I’ll see if I can dig it out in one piece.

    this is true, my stone and broken tarmac drive beats a seed tray every time

    I removed some tiny foxglove seedling recently from a very similar site. They're all potted up and are fine, even though I had to manhandle them a fair bit, so you should probably be able to get it out. It's certainly easier when it's small because of the root size,  as long as you're careful. I use one of those tools for getting staples out or similar. It has a Y shape at the end which is good, but an old fork is pretty good. 

    I've got a tiny cotoneaster in there too, courtesy of the birds, which I've got my eye on for removal ...
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    The astrantia seems to have survived the move. I curious about how the flowers will turn out. I’ve already transplanted a salvia seedling and a crab apple sapling from similar locations. One of the advantage of not using any weed killers!

    Some of the plants growing between the slabs make me want to pave the whole garden and grow plants only in the gaps between the slabs…
