WHat to grow with Astromeria and Hollyhocks

I have Astromeria and Hollyhocks in a border. The hollyhocks have almost finished blooming, and the astromeria look like they're fading. Which, when tidied up, will leave a bare patch.
Anyone have any suggestions for plants to grow in front/between them, to fill in when they've finished?

There is a very old, well-established wild hedge on the road-side of our garden, so nutrients need to be replenished manually on our side. The border gets the sun from mid-day.

Thanks in anticipation.

Hollyhocks are biennial so when they’ve finished that’s their lot, you can leave then in until the seeds are dried and either let them fall on their own or collect them for next year.
Or, you can pull them out and put in whatever you fancy.  Penstemons are perennials,  check if they’re the hardier types and will over winter, but they will flower later when the others are finished.

The Alstromeria will keep flowering if you pull up the faded flower stalks, don't cut them, this encourages new flowers.

Thanks, I've done that. There are a few flowering stalks remaining, the rest of the area is a bit 'bald', now. Hence the need for something else.

Has anyone had any problems moving hollyhocks (apart from the deep tap root)?           I have a load of seedlings clustered and want to put them elsewhere. Thanks
