Designing under a large sycamore tree

Hello,

I'm redesigning my back garden into multiple sections for seating.

I have one section with a decent sized area with decent sunlight, placed beneath a large sycamore tree - but this area is also a 'drop zone' for leaves, bird poo and sap.

How can I sensibly use this area and enjoy the sunlight, but manage the 'drop zone' elements? I'm reluctant to remove or heavily prune the tree.

Thanks for suggestions.

You seemingly have an insoluble problem, insofar as the source of your discomfort, the sycamore, is to be preserved?  Your only protection will be to instal some form of covered seating, which may obscure the sun.

I agree. If you get that problem, then it won't be ideal for sitting there.
    Have you got a photo?
An arbour of some kind would work, as mentioned, and can have planting/climbers as well, depending on the soil, the climate, and the aspect of the site. You'd need to have adequate rainfall to ensure plants would thrive, or enough available water to maintain them, but it would make the spot more attractive.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Thanks for the responses. An Arbor or pergola with planters may be best.

Pigeons will perch on an arbour or pergola unfortunately! As already said, a photo will really help.  I’m trying to envisage how an area beneath a large sycamore gets decent sunlight.
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.
