If you want to expand your planting where the snowdrops are planted here are some of the plants I have recently added to my new north facing border. It is shady and the soil is clay. Hope it is useful for future reference. Many plants that enjoy this aspect disappear underground as the tree canopy develops in late spring. Hellebores, ferns[some are also evergreen] so good for winter months just cut back so you can see the snowdrops. Will also give some structure in the summer months.
Helleborous orientalis, Epimediums [ go for the stronger growing forms such as Orange Queen or Domino, Sarcococca [Sweet Box], Polystichum Herrenheusen, Asplenium, Polystichum setiferum, Polygonatum Varigartum, Eranthis, Euonymous Emerald and gold will also grow in shade. The hardy Geranium phaum, foxgloves and Aquilegia will help extend the season. You would need to research each one as some prefer a slightly sunnier spot than others.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
