Mirabilis Jalapa (Belle de Nui) 4 o'clock plant

I have been given some seedlings of this plant, has anyone grown them? I'm in NW France

    Please plant them now; they might take another 1 or 2 months to flower. They then keep flowering until the first frost. HTH.

    They are tender perennials. I have some in a very sheltered spot in my garden in SW France and they come up every year. 
    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    You have to come out at night to see the flowers.  Very good for moths.
    I’m not sure they’ll flower this year though.
    This  is the root they grow

    I have them here in Luxembourg and have survived harsh winters.They are prolific and self seed a lot, but they are lovely. 
    I never water them until this time of year. Ah and they flower in shade too.

    Yes @Lyn. That's exactly what they become. Mine are in containers.

    Mine grew up a trellis about 3’

    Mine didn’t stand up on their own,  needed a trellis support.
    I had no idea that they grew a root like that, all from one seed.
