Figs not ripening

What is the secret fellow Gardeners? I have a friend and we often do plant exchanges she gave me a fig when it was only 2ft tall. We kept it outside in a sunny place, repotted it twice had a few fruits coming, great. Two years ago we replaced our 8x6 Greenhouse with a 12x 8 so decided to put in there. It’s 3 years old now my OH picked one last week and cut it in half and it wasn’t ready you could see the fruit but they were like bullets. I’m sure one of you are in the know about Figs can you help? should we move outside ?

Mine which are outdoors will be ready for picking only around November.

Those figs are nowhere near ripe. When they are ready to eat they change colour, are soft to the touch, and droop down. It could a few weeks before your fruits are ready to eat. No need to move the plant outside. I have one fig tree in the greenhouse and some outside and last year they all fruited around the same time but if the weather decides to be chilly and grey, greenhouse figs are the better bet.

We are keeping our fingers crossed this year as we haven't had any figs for 3 years now (weather related we think). The tree has a good number of figs but no where near ready to pick.
All gooseberries, blackcurrants and strawberries all harvested some weeks ago.

If you didn't get ripe figs last year, you never will.

Not sure what you mean @bede. We have had figs for many years but the last 3 we haven't. The tree didn't produce any fruit then but this year it has. So why shouldn't we have ripe fruit this year. The fruit is continuing to get bigger and soon will look like the photo from @Valleysgirl .
