Pea shoots

Hi, can someone tell me if I can use any pea seeds to grow pea shoots or should I use a particular variety? I have some left-over seeds which probably won’t be good for next year and I wonder if I can use them this year for pea shoots, I think they are Alderman which I collected from last year’s crop.
Many thanks

Yes any culinary pea variety will produce edible shoots for you. 😊

Thanks for your help, I love salads and this’ll be a great use for old seeds.

Some folk even use dried peas from supermarket/Wholefood store and dried chick peas for growing pea shoots.

Just don’t use the ornamental Sweet peas.

    Enjoy.

  • As an aside, I can't remember how long pea seeds stay viable - I'll probably use last year's Alderman seed crop for next year's planting...

Thanks again, I’ll try keeping some and growing for their shoots…..I have loads of seeds! Can I do the same with parsnips? I always have far more than I need in the packet but don’t know if the tops are edible, much as I love parsnips too much of a good thing etc.. and I still have some of their roots in the freezer from last year’s crop.
I know micro greens have been around for a while eg beetroot and kohlrabi etc, I just hate throwing out old seed and for my small veg patch most seed packets have more than I’ll ever need.
