Dwarf Myrtle substitute for Yew and Boxwood for uses other than large or very figurative topiary
Dwarf Myrtle work beautifully as a naturally round shrub. It has small fluffy white flowers and later dark blue berries that can be made into compote,. It achieves up to four feet in diameter, but will get only about three feet across with less water. It can withstand very hot weather, as well as some frost.
This saves on pruning and green waste if substituted for yew or box. If course it has less ability to become some decorative shapes of topiary, but if a globe o small, dark green, oblong leaves is desired in this size, I consider it superior.
