Parsley makes a stunning plant when in seed

I forgot about the parsley I grew from seed in 2022 and this year look at it! It' a stunning shade of green and the shape is exquisite:

I wish I could garden all year round!

It attracts all sorts of weird insects such as ichneumon wasps as well.

A few years back I saw something on TV about popping parsley in the garden when it starts to flower rather than chucking it on the compost heap. Sound advice because it is beautiful and delicate looking and insects love it. Might be worth using it as a plant in the flower border.

A lot of the plants in the carrot family make for lovely ornamentals - parsnip, parsley, fennel - most of the umbellifers.

I remember years ago Runnybeak grew a giant parsnip. It was stunning!

I seem to remember flowering parsnip plants being used in a Chelsea garden a few years ago.

Unbellifers are all beautiful … I can’t think of one that isn’t. 😀

Astrantia, lovage, ground elder and angelica are not my thing, but I can see why other people like them.

This is an evergreen one new to me.

Hoverflies love that one but I think it lacks the impact of the taller herbaceous/biennial ones

Gratifying  to note that the parsnip (vegetable of the divil) has some use.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I like that plant but it's a bit big for my garden. B. longifolium is high on my wishlist but not easy to get going by all accounts.
