Identify poo in garden

I've found a few of these droppings in my garden. Does anyone know what animal they are from? I have seen a rat in my garden before, but not this close to the house before. I have seen a cat come on the steps before and my neighbour said he had foxes in his garden the other night. But searching online it doesn't seem to match any of the photos for these. I wondered if anyone could help.

The "white" blob * ( possibly urine ) on the last pic would suggest a bird.  Otherwise could be a Hedgehog or Fox.  Looks rather large for the average Rat dropping but with no scale, difficult to be sure.
  • Thanks guys. Do get quite a few pigeons (and magpies) in the garden. Though not usually on the back door steps. I've taken a couple of photos of them next to a penny, they are about the same size (I'd already cleaned up the other one on the steps, these are just on the path in the middle of the grass).

I’d say hedgehogs and pigeons. We also have both 😊

    Not a fox
  • that would be a relief. I should also say there was another one on the top of four steps that I didn't get a photo of (the first photo is the bottom of the four steps), so I feel like a hedgehog wouldn't climb up the steps, but then again I don't know much about hedgehogs, maybe they do like a climb! I'm mainly worried about rats though. A hedgehog would be nice.

Hedgehogs do climb steps that aren't too steep @harryellis
If you want to encourage them into your garden there are loads of hints and tips on the BHPS website.

You might consider investing in a trailcam, it's amazing what goes on in your garden overnight.

Yes, looking at the latest pics I'd say either bird or Hedgehog.

As @AnniD says, hogs will climb steps if shallow enough - pretty agile creatures on the whole  ;)
