Sycamore tree

We have cut the branches off a 30 foot sycamore tree as the amount of pods it left in our horses paddock was ridiculous and we have spent the past 9 months picking up pods and saplings, don't wish to repeat this! My question is I've noticed new leaves have appeared sprouting out of the remaining trunk. Will these produce pods or not if we have cut off the mature branches?

The tree wants to live and it's main purpose is to reproduce so if you have a trunk or even a tree stump, it will continue to grow, produce leaves and flowers, and seeds. If you don't want it to produce seeds, you have to get rid of it completely.

There was a mast year for them this year, so it's unlikely to be a huge problem every year.
Horses would rarely be bothered by them if that's what 's worrying you. The fields we had stock in were surrounded by lots of maples/sycamores  :)
