Irises

I want to plant Bearded Irises in a large Planter. How do I calculate how many I will need/ get from each Rhizome and what Irises are Perrenial ?

All bearded Iris are perennial, but they need divided every few years to keep them productive. Pots aren't ideal because of that - it would have to be a purpose built, large bed to be feasible. They'll generally spread to about 2 feet, depending on type.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Dwarf bearded iris look lovely in large containers on pedestals, planted closely together for maximum effect.
I have seen tall iris growing in containers but I would assume they would need repotting each year for them to thrive.
