Move Crocosmia Now?

honeybeanhoneybean Posts: 50
I know it’s totally the wrong time of year to move Crocosmia.

I was planning on doing in the autumn but my dog has brought my plans forward by sleeping in the whole bed of Crocosmia and flattening it to a soft squashy bed! I doubt they will flower now anyway and the bed now looks awfu.

Is it ok to move them?

Also at the bottom of the leaf stem there are roots. Do I plant that or just the corm?

Thanks 🌻

@honeybean I am not sure you will achieve anything by moving them now. If they have been flattened that is it until next year. Wait until autumn to do the job by then they will have naturally died back.

I wouldn't suggest moving at present you will need to water continuously if the weather is dry, right through until autumn if necsessary. Also moved in leaf they will still be flopping around and probably won't stand straight in the ground.
