Unknown small shrub from the garden.

Hello,

Does anyone know what shrub this is please? I am looking to identify it in order to determine when it can be pruned.

    Agree ..you can just see a couple of red berries hidden under the leaves

    I agree too.
    As far as pruning's concerned, you'd normally do it after flowering ,which means losing berries for a year, but you can really do it at almost any time if needed, within reason.
    That one has a look of being overcrowded and has possibly got lop sided more than anything. It may be a case of pruning other planting that's around it instead, but it's not possible to tell from the photo as to what would be suitable  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
