My sad cabbage tree.

Hi all, I have a very sad cabbage tree. Brown spots and withering ends. It seems to be traveling up the crowns and is much worse than last year. There is another one with the same issue elsewhere. Both in full sun. They are very dear to my mother as they are one of the few things planted in the garden by my now deceased father. Any help would be greatly appreciate. Lots of leaves were removed this year and yet it spreads.

Could it be Odium - humidity?  Copper spray wouldn't harm it but I believe it is not sold now in the UK.  @Pete.8  might be able to shed some light on the matter.

A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

There are numerous threads on Cordyline issues @pauloliverocallaghan particularly after the rubbish weather over the last 2 years.
If you use the Search Facility on here you could browse thru and see the problems raised and the advice/info offered.
The Search facility can be a bit hit and miss but it should produce something  :)

It's not a plant I've ever had so I have no experience, but could it just be the oldest leaves dying off.
No leaves last forever and the plant replaces them with new leaves at the top that are more efficient and can process more sunlight into energy for the plant.
I don't know how long-lived these plants are, but eventually they will of course die.

It doesn't look like rust so I don't know if a copper spray would work and I don't know of other diseases these plants may suffer from.
    I don't think it's oedema.

The old treatment for rust and other fungal diseases was Bordeaux Mixture.
All copper-based fungicides have been banned in the UK for a long time.
Not because they are dangerous or unsafe as such but because fruit farmers used it as a preventative on their fruit trees twice a year, ever year. This can cause a buildup of copper in the soil and leach into waterways which is very toxic to water life.
Spraying one tree is nothing to worry about.
There are lots of recipes for Bordeaux Mixture on the web and ingredients are available via Amazon etc.
