@young codger, sorry to hear you've been unwell, hope you're feeling better now. Yes, I think the lack of water has probably affected their development and caused them to seed early, also they're very close to the grass border which will have competed for nutrients. There's nothing to lose in giving them a water and maybe a feed and see if it promotes some growth.
