Crab apple royalty

hi folks. I've had my crab apple for a few years (2019 I think...) but never seen an apple. Looks lovely in May, the rest of the year pretty much bare branches with a few leaves which look to be dying. New leaf growth but nothing else. Should it be bearing more than tiny berries?

    This variety only produces small fruits, no bigger than 1/2" according to what i've read. I was looking at dark foliage trees myself last year, and looked at this one amongst others.

    ah ok. I looked and all I can see is "dark red fruits". I'm fine with that - at least the birds get something!
