Is this JKW?

TheGreenManTheGreenMan Posts: 1,957
My sister sent me some pics of her friend’s new back garden asking me if I could help clear it over the next few weeks.

The pics she has sent me are not great but my stomach turned when I saw them.

In my head there is knotweed in this picture.

I’ve asked her to go back and take some close ups.

Anyone else think it’s there?

Or am I seeing things?

Sorry, but I can’t tell anything from that picture.
How can you lie there and think of England

I can’t see any JKW … I can see something that looks like spirea tho’ .., is that what you’re looking at?

I can’t see it.  Nettles and bindweed.

I'll send the close-ups once I get them.

If you mean the heart shaped leaves with the fluffy white flowers then they aren't JKW. The leaves in the photo have serrated edges, not like JKW. There are some big persicarias that look like JKW but aren't. One at Beth Chattis, another at Great Dixter and one in my old garden.

2nd thoughts - those leaves may belong to stinging nettles. Need another photo.

Yes there are lots of mature stinging nettles there

    Bindweed and flowering nettles.

    Marvellous.

Those are the things I thought could be it.

A nice challenge then rather than a scary one 😂

    Thanks all.

I’ll pop in at the weekend when I’m further south and take a proper look at it all.
