We’ve had quite a few queries about these this year … it seems they’re tortrix moth caterpillars.
I’ve got them on my fig tree … I’m just squishing them between finger and thumb.

As Dove says, there seem to be a lot of them about - several queries this summer. I was squishing them daily but I couldn't keep up, sadly.

Maybe you could pick them off and put them on the bird table, they’ll eat them, better than killing them.
