Beans have reached top of bean poles, should I pinch them off?

  • While on the subject of Runner Beans, also in my case climbing French Beans,I am wondering if I am being impatient when I fail to see any flowers yet . Is it a late season? I am nervous of a much reduced crop.

A ladder, @war garden 572?  Really??  What am I supposed to lean it against, to pick my beans?  And before you suggest a stepladder, I've tried it, and unless you happen to have a firm horizontal surface next to the beans, it sinks into the earth and tips you off...

sutton.langley   Mine are already off the tops of the sticks.  Location important?
Liriodendron  Don't rise to the bait?

Wg is just stirring … it’s what he does on forums all over the planet .., he’s been around for years under various names but the style is easily recognised …  being rude and annoying is his raison d’être and he has it off to a fine art … best ignored unless he’s giving folk wrong advice.

For 'Crop24' tuffnelljohn you might like to try a 'pit' as opposed to your 'row'?  I grow 24 plants in one square yard/metre.  They all support one another and you can let them grow wherever they want to.  Bones of the unit attached.
Can you clarify what 'Crop24' is? (Ive googled it but cant find anything related to beans!). 24 plants in one square metre sounds too good to be true!

    Crop24 could  refer to next year’s planting/growing?

Exactly, Dove.  It's more or less too late for 'Crop23', John.
