Lower leaf drop. Will it recover or need pruning?

A couple plants in my yard dropped leaves from their lower stems after being planted a few months ago. Plants have recovered but not regrown the leaves. Will they grow back or need pruning? Plant pictured is a Grevillea, other not pictured is Leucadendron.

saturnskye0  None of our experts seem to have spotted your post?  I can't answer it, but this may bring it back to the top of the list in the hope one will.  In the meantime, welcome!

@saturnskye0 Are you in the UK? Not sure many gardeners in the UK will grow these plants? Both in the Protea family there may be a gardener that grows them in the South/West.
If you don't get a reply you could try the Eden Project.

I assume you have'nt been using tap water. I have just remembered looking after one for a few weeks. I believe it went under glass in the winter.

Do you have any Gardening Forums? These are Southern Hemisphere plants.

I also notice that you have asked for help regarding Birch trees. Things may vary with you as it was mentioned don't prune Birch as the sap is rising.
It is good to see that someone so far away enjoys reading Gardeners World Forum.

  • I googled for sites with a reliable forum and this one stood out, didn't realise it was UK based. Did request to join an Aus advice group on FB but it's been pending for days. For this plant, I figured it might be a common problem not exclusive to the species

It is natural for plants to drop there lower leaves as these are the oldest. There is a poster on here that grows Exotics but at the minute I cannot think who they are?

@saturnskye0 You could take a look at www.burncoose.co.uk there is information on both plants.  You could also contact them?

Morning everyone. I’m in the snowy mountains region of NSW.

I wouldn’t worry about the leaf drop. They’ll sort themselves out in time. I grow both Grevilleas and Leucodendrons.
